Visiting beautiful UGA, Athens, GA

Recently, I had an appointment over in Athens, GA so Val and I visited the University of Georgia while we were there. What a beautiful campus—a city of its own really. Even in the rain, UGA is beautiful—and expansive: restaurants, coffee shops, department stores, pharmacies, nail and hair salons, barbershops and hotels that cater to students and visitors.

We snapped several pics including the historic Black-Diallo-Miller Hall, named for the first blacks to enroll as freshmen and graduate from the university. Harold Alonza Black, Mary Blackwell Diallo, and Kerry Rushin Miller courageously integrated the university in the1960s during one of the tumultuous times in the history of the nation. The new $50 million, six-story residence hall opened in 2022 during the university’s 60th anniversary. We also stopped by UGA’s Sanford Stadium, Vince Dooley Athletic Complex, and the Clark Howell Hall honoring the Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper man and Georgia politician. Howell was editorial executive and owner for 53 years of The Atlanta Constitution.

Take a look at highlights of our campus visit. Let us know your thoughts and feel free to share your comments. We’d love to hear from you and don’t forget to sign up below so you’ll be notified when we post new content. #UGA#howboutdemdawgs#first blacks#bestlifeglenn
