Celebrating Mothers’ Day with my two special ladies

We took selfies on Mom’s new deck and she proudly showed us all of the container flowers that she had planted.

I spent Mothers’ Day with two special mothers in my life: my wife, Val, and my mother-in-law, Juliette.

My own mother, Josie, passed away in 2020. I cherish so many memories of her and though I miss her, I know those in heaven had a great Mothers’ Day because Josie Mae Summers definitely cooked up a feast.

My mother-in-law was treated to a wonderful meal by her two sons, Nate and Richard, who did the cooking. Mom said she didn’t want to go out and eat and we all had a great time having dinner at home.

Nate and Richard prepared baked chicken, barbeque ribs, smoked sausages, dressing, sweet potato souffle, string beans, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, cucumber and tomato salad, potato salad and several appetizers. All of it was good!

After eating, I fell asleep watching the Atlanta Braves. My mother-in-law loves the Braves and I could hear her cheering as I drifted in and out of sleep.

Val and I treated Mom to a shopping spree as a pre-Mothers’ Day gift

Grandma Julie and great-granddaughter Luna, trying on some of the gifts from the shopping spree.

Grandma Julie gives Luna a hug. They are always so glad to see one another!

Val and Mom all dressed up and enjoying the newly-furnished deck and planning their outdoor girls’ tea time together.
