Blue Evening of R&B concert, a great outdoor concert

Every year, I always look forward to the array of outdoor concerts offered throughout metro Atlanta as the weather warms up. This past weekend (May 13), Val and I kicked off the 2023 season by attending a concert in Covington, GA at the Legion Field Amphitheater. It was our first visit at this venue and enjoyable one.

The “Blue Evening of R&B” featuring Crissy Collins from Beyonce, Tyler Perry & the BJ Vann, was a great celebration with friends and familiar faces from Newton, Rockdale and DeKalb counties.

Many of us dressed in shades of blue for the event, which was hosted by the Newton County Democrats.

We packed picnics and shared food and drinks. Our menu included crab claws, fried chicken, deviled eggs, veggies, fresh pineapple, watermelon, black berries and key lime pie.

The weather was perfect—warm but not scorching hot. And fortunately, no mosquitos just yet.

Crissy Collins made sure everyone had a good time by singing several familiar hits from the 70s, 80s and forward.  She also got people moving, encouraging the audience to dance and a crowd obliged the request by getting up to do the “Electric Slide.”

I had a great time taking selfies and photographing the pre-Mothers’ Day event. If you missed out on this event, stayed tuned for others at BestLifeGlenn.com
