Trend Urban Cafe is our go-to spot to eat clean and relax.
The cafe offers several options for the health-conscious including vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian (fish) entrees. In fact, the restaurant’s web site states: “ …So what-ever-a-tarian you are, we got you covered!”
When you arrive at Trend, you place your order at the countertop, where all of the entrees and food choices are displayed on a blackboard. After you pay for your food, you’re given a number and your waitress or waiter will bring your food to you.
There are a number of great entrees at this cafe but I’m going to share my favorites. On a recent visit, I had the Smokey BBQ Chicken Hoagie. It’s delicious: grilled chicken with roasted poblanos, caramelized onions, lettuce, charred garlic aioli and their signature BBQ sauce and three-cheese sauce. I had a side salad.
Val ordered her favorite—the Urban Salad, which comes with tomatoes, cucumbers, roasted mushrooms, marinated onions, kale croutons and cheddar cheese on a bed of spring mix, arugula and romaine lettuce. She does not care for Iceberg lettuce and neither do I, which is why she especially enjoys the salad at Trend Urban. She added chicken as a protein. The roasted mushrooms and marinated onions really elevate the salad, making it so flavorful.
Lemonade and tea were our choices for beverages. For refills, we enjoyed sampling the cucumber-and-mint-infused water. The beverage bar also has orange-and-basil-infused water and lemon-and-mint-fused water, along with Coke products, tea and lemonade.
You can sit on a comfy couch or armchair, or enjoy your food at a high-top table or regular table. We change it up whenever we go. There are charging units at the tables so you never have to worry about your phone or laptop dying.
Trend also offers outdoor seating. It’s warming up now, so alfresco is also a good option.
One more thing: The array of vegan desserts and other treats at the counter looked absolutely amazing. I’m thinking about doing a dessert date night and Trend Urban Cafe definitely will be on the list.
