Breakfast at Barneys, Atlanta,GA

There’s nothing basic about Breakfast at Barney’s. Perhaps the green neon sign near the banquet room best describes the eatery’s vibe: “The Rich Life.” According to the website, “Breakfast at Barneys is a part breakfast/brunch eatery and part daytime social club which offers decadent comfort food.” Decadent as in the Emperors Breakfast, 24 Karat Gold Pancakes, Lamb and Eggs(lambchops), Vegan Yacht Toast. Well, you get the idea.

We watched as the wait staff brought out plates of beautiful dressed-up pancakes, chicken and waffles, Fried Catfish & Spicy Spaghetti, Lobster Mac & Cheese. We had hoped to see the Mansa Musa Tower delivered to a table (described on the menu as a decadent combination of 24 karat gold pancakes, yard bird platter, fried lobster and grits, a bottle of premium champagne, and a bottle of Armand De Brignac Ace of Spades— $1,000) but none passed our table during our visit.

Also noteworthy: The drink menu includes smoothies, juices, soft drinks, non-alcoholic cocktails and loaded cocktails.

So here’s what we ordered: I had the Queen City Shrimp and Grits. Val had the New Orleans Blackened Mahi. I also had a strawberry lemonade. We had a great time socializing, people watching and experiencing the vibe. Valet parking is available in the garage $5 or on the street, if you can grab a spot.
